Real Estate Agent Movers
Every licensed agent who changed brokerage between two monthly license files, matched on state and license number: ~23k between the August 2026 and September 2026 releases, with the old office, the new office and matched contact data.
A brokerage move is the clearest recruiting signal in real estate, and the regulator publishes it. Each month we match every licensee in the new file to the previous one on state plus license number and keep the records whose office of record changed. Between the August 2026 and September 2026 files that was ~23k agents out of ~1.9M matched records across 44 jurisdictions, roughly 1.2% in one month. ~3.9k of them were first licensed before 2010, and ~15k carry a matched mobile.
The measured rate is the honest one. A handful of regulators flip the office field between a team name and the brokerage name, or relabel offices in bulk, which reads as thousands of phantom moves; we exclude those jurisdictions from the count (CT, ND, OR, SD, UT, WV, WY on this snapshot) rather than report them. The table below is one month, named, never annualized.
Public professional profiles show about a third of these moves roughly a month before the regulator does, so pairing this feed with the professional graph gives you the earliest reliable read on who is in motion. Delivered as a monthly file or an API feed, for sourcing and outreach, not employment decisions.

How it is built
Two consecutive monthly regulator files are joined on state plus license number; only records with an office of record in both months count. A move is a change in the normalized office name. Jurisdictions whose month-over-month office change rate exceeds 5% are treated as publication artefacts and excluded from the total, with the exclusions named on this page. Snapshot: September 2026 data, compared with the August 2026 release.
Questions we get
Why is this smaller than the number of agents who join a new brokerage?
It only counts licensees the regulator shows with an office of record in both months, matched on license number. Agents who let a license lapse and re-activate, or who join an office the regulator has not yet recorded, show up the following month.
Can you tell me where they went?
Yes. Both the old and new office of record are on every row, so you can filter to agents leaving a competitor or joining a specific brand.
Is this suitable for hiring decisions?
It is a sourcing and outreach list. It is not a consumer report and is not for use in employment, credit, insurance or housing eligibility decisions.
